Now pour the grog and splash the ale
while singing songs or telling tales
then later, when the story's through,
raise second glass and start anew!
The bread is fresh, the apples tart -
(and so's the wench who breaks your heart!)
We'll stay 'til dark of evening's end
then weave way home and into bed.
Come morning when the headache's strong,
a mug of beer will right the wrong.
